Atlanta protests murders of Sudanese youth
Close to 100 people, mostly youth, gathered for a vigil in Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta on March 6 to call for justice for the three murdered youth, all Sudanese refugees, shot multiple times in Fort Wayne, Ind. While local police have dismissed the killings as a “hate crime,” speakers at the vigil made clear the connection to the vicious anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim rhetoric that dominates political speech in the U.S. The crowd was urged to realize the message of Black Lives Matter in their everyday activities.
