Buffalo anti-imperialist activists protest threatened U.S. illegal seizure of Venezuela’s embassy

The International Action Center’s Buffalo members and friends demonstrated April 27 in solidarity with anti-war, progressive activists who are conducting a sit-in at the Venezuelan Embassy in Washington, D.C. Their action is in response to the U.S. government’s expressed intent to illegally arrest those presently occupying the embassy and to install diplomats representing Juan Guaidó, the self-appointed president, there.

Diplomats of the legitimate Venezuelan government were expelled in January by the Trump administration. Anti-war, peace and progressive activists inside the embassy are lawfully present as the invited guests of the legitimate Venezuelan government of Nicolás Maduro. Their presence has prevented the U.S. administration from carrying out a brazen act of piracy.

Buffalo activists also demanded “No U.S. coup!” and demonstrated against U.S. sanctions on Venezuela, which have caused so many people to struggle with shortages, especially of medicine.
