Activists of the Union Borotba (Struggle) of Ukraine, living in exile in Simferopol, Crimea, rallied in support of the people of Ferguson, Mo., and the struggle against police brutality and racism in the United States on Nov. 27. They were joined by members of the United Communist Party of Russia.

Denis Levin, a coordinator of Borotba, said in a public statement: “We came out to support all those who have raised the banner against racism and police brutality in the U.S. Look at all those who took to the streets in Ferguson, Detroit and other cities, who are primarily concerned with police brutality, violence, prejudice and social inequalities.

“We want to say to all those people, all those who can no longer tolerate oppression: ‘We are with you! Hold on!’

“Their protest gives hope to all those who are oppressed and killed on racial, national and social grounds. It gives hope that racism and neo-Nazism will be met with indignation and the desire to act against the oppressors.”

Borotba members and other Ukrainian anti-fascist activists have been killed, imprisoned or driven into exile since the U.S.-backed coup by pro-Western politicians, wealthy oligarchs and neo-Nazis last February. With Washington’s support, Kiev has also waged a bloody war targeting civilians in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, which declared independence from Ukraine in May.
