‘Community feed’ remembers police victim
San Francisco — The monthly “Kenneth Harding Jr. Foundation Community Feed” on March 23 fell on the 6th annual “Feed the People Weekend.” The community event provided sandwiches, fruits, vegetables, pasta, rice and other wholesome foods for distribution to the people. On July 16, 2011, 19-year-old Kenneth Wade Harding Jr. was brutally killed by the San Francisco Police Department over a $2 transit fare. While some in the community of Bayview Hunters Point were eyewitnesses to Harding’s killing, the rest of the world was able to watch this horrific act on a YouTube video. Denika Chatman, Harding’s mother, has organized these monthly food distributions as her way of keeping her son’s memory alive.
