Darden restaurant protest supports workers’ struggle

Darden workers demand justice, Oct. 30.

New York, Oct. 30 — Protesters — some dressed in Halloween costumes, especially zombies — were lively tonight with a fighting picket at the Capital Grille restaurant in Manhattan. The Restaurant Opportunities Center-New York leads the immigrant workers fighting for benefits and decent wages here.

Protesters passed out an orange-colored flier that read: “Restaurant Workers Are Not Zombies!” They wanted to expose Darden Restaurants, a multibillion dollar company and the largest full-service dining corporation in the world, owning Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Capital Grille and others.

ROC has been picketing this Capital Grille location for more than a year and has a lawsuit against the restaurant’s racial discrimination of workers here.

Go to DignityatDarden.org to sign a petition supporting the workers and find more ways to take action.
